The Italian Dolomites

Just spent a week walking in the Italian Dolomites. It’s an area renowned for it’s 3000m jagged peaks of pale , heavily-eroded limestone that shoot up from green pastures and flower strewn meadows. Part of the is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the highlight being a circular walk around the world famous Tre Cime (The Three Peaks) three immense obelisks of sheer rock. The walk starts at the Rifugio Auronzo and you climb to around 2600m.
